• Click on Create.
• In the Ledger Creation screen, enter the following details:
• Ledger Name: Cash
• Ledger Type: Asset
• Group: Current Assets

Let me show you a tally practical question with a solution.

Question:

On 1.4.2023, Mr. X started a business with the following transactions:

• Invested cash Rs. 1,00,000.
• Purchased goods on credit from Mr. Y for Rs. 50,000.
• Sold goods for cash Rs. 75,000.
• Paid cash to Mr. Y for Rs. 30,000.

Instructions:

Record the above transactions in Tally and generate a trial balance.

Solution:

• Step 1: Create Ledgers

To create ledgers in Tally, go to Gateway of Tally > Accounts > Ledgers.

Enter the following ledger names:

Cash

Mr. Y

Sales

Purchases

• Step 2: Record the Transactions

To record the transactions, go to Gateway of Tally > Vouchers > Create Voucher.
